This survey developed by the Denver Alliance for Public Education. Colorado requires its public school students to take annual tests in a variety of subjects from pre-school through 11th grade. The state legislature in 2014 passed HB14-1202 creating a Standards and Assessments Task Force, known as the 1202 Task Force, to evaluate the time, cost, and benefits of federal and state mandated annual student assessments.
The Task Force will provide recommendations to the Colorado legislature on testing policy and implementation. The budget for the 1202 assessment work did not include money for a survey of parents, students, and teachers. This survey can fill that information gap. Survey results will be published broadly and presented to the HB14-1202 Task Force and the Colorado state legislature.
