I frequently hear, “You had better do well on these tests; it provides funding to your social studies and science teachers,” when the discussion of this test comes up. Guilt is used to motivate. But we need to question the connection between test and funding before shuffling into the test room... ...I will be showing up on the day of the CMAS testing, and I will be sitting in my desk. When it comes to the test itself, however, I will be leaving my answer booklet closed. I encourage my classmates to join me in this act of protest.
